About Mitch Carmody

Mitch Carmody has been serving the bereaved for over 30 years. Mitch speaks of surviving loss by turning it into legacy through the process what he calls Proactive Grieving®. Proactive Grieving is about vulnerability, embracing your grief, not fighting it, medicating it long term, or ignoring it; it is living with the loss and choosing to be transformed by it. Proactive grieving is choosing the best road for reinvestment in life; exploring ways that empower you to grieve out of the box and address each aspect of your loss that is uniquely yours.

It is becoming an intentional survivor that defeats grief and trauma. His workshops include art, music, lecture, and activities to discover who you are as a griever; somatically (body), neurologically(mind), soul (emotionally), spirit (quantum connection) All of which are equally important to restore equilibrium to our wholistic self. Grief has universal stressors and neurological changes that can occur, and we can discover healthy ways to neutralize its toxic effect on our bodies to restore our natural resilience to aid in healing from trauma.

Resilience is only found by finding equilibrium in body, mind, soul, and spirit. We can survive trauma without balance, but to thrive we need equilibrium with all our four quadrants of being. Mitch maintains that in processing loss and trauma, we will have collateral losses as well as collateral blessings on our journey to find hope, healing and meaning; we have choices; grief is not a life sentence of pain it is an outcome of choice.
